September Monthly Tutorial by Michele Roos

Please scroll down for this week’s challenge which does not close till 10pm UK time tonight.

We have moved this post back from the Monthly Challenge blog to here as we are merging both blogs back into one – it was getting way too confusing!  We are still going to hold the special monthly challenge, but it will take place here on the first Friday of each month.  Don’t forget the prize for the monthly challenge is a biggie - $50 voucher from Simon Says Stamp!!

This week we are giving you a little extra time – our challenge will be based around Michelle’s flower tutorial.  If you don’t have the die (none of the DT did) please don’t worry – all we ask is that your creation has hand made flowers, cut with a die, or punched or even cut out by hand.  The challenge will be launched tomorrow morning as usual but here’s the tutorial anyway in case you want to make a start on it.

We were so delighted and honoured when the very talented Michele of My little space on the WWW agreed to do a tutorial of her gorgeous flowers for us. Thanks so much Michel. Please drop by her blog and prepare to be amazed by her fantastic work!!

1

List of supplies used

Sizzix Flowers Layers Die

Craft paper

Tweezers

Scissors

Distress ink

Kitchen sponge

PVA glue

2

First off cut out two medium size flower shapes and 4 small. On the back of each flower shape, roughly draw a circle in the centre.

3

On each flower, cut down into the petals to open them up a bit more

4

To add a bit of definition to the flowers, ink the edges of each petal as in the above picture.

5

Now on the right side of each flower, curl all the petals inwards using either tweezers or something similar.

6

Do the same on the wrong side of each flower curling all the petals inwards.

7

Here is a picture of all the flowers with the petals curled up.

8

Carefully uncurl the petals and on the right side of each flower emboss the centre till they resemble the above picture

9

On the back of 5 flowers, put a small amount of PVA glue in the centre. Now the fun begins, start layering up the flower

10

Here’s a close up to give you an idea what the flower should look like when all the layers are put together.

And here’s how the flower looks on a card.dscf6935

I hope that you’ve enjoyed my tutorial.

Hugs Michele x
